'Nanobubbles' kill cancer cells

http://www.physorg.com/news184520297.html“(PhysOrg.com) -- Using lasers and nanoparticles, scientists at Rice University have discovered a new technique for singling out individual diseased cells and destroying them with tiny explosions. The scientists used lasers to make "nanobubbles" by zapping gold nanoparticles inside cells. In tests on cancer cells, they found they could tune the lasers to create either small, bright bubbles that were…See More

This is an interesting article, and it makes a valid point. Definite food for thought. It's a challenge however, to represent this concept of rich vs. poor visually (at least with the minimal set and costumes we have now). But that's why…

Opening notes from Tim

Congratulations everyone on a successful first showcase. I'm proud of what we have accomplished in this phase of the Nano project.

Now that we have a solid foundation, we must first reflect upon what we have. Then we need to think about what it is we are trying to say with the show. We need to determine what is working, what is not working, and what is missing. I also encourage you to think about the show and moments in the show in a nonlinear and abstract manner. What are key images… Continue

NANO!!!

I am thinking of a lot of NANO's performance. Maybe who never know if NANO keeps watch us?? or Do we have to look for NANO that most people don't see NANO. That is how I feeling of the NANO:

1) The wonder NANO ball is the first thing to says hello...

2) It's like a magic and emotion in NANO

3) Do we need to communcation find a way for us to be speaking or not?

4) Nano is a way to walk through mirror to new beginning, so we can see a reflection of ourselves.

That… Continue

Scenes

When we discussed all scenes we have done in last 2 weeks, I didn't realize we did a lot and I'm really glad about that. Here's the order of scenes, but it's still tentative:

Discovery

The Escape

The Lecture

Guinea Pigs

Nano World

Trials and Errors

The Nightmare

Carbon Nanotube Muscles Strong as Diamond, Flexible as Rubber

For the next installment of the Terminator franchise, Hollywood might skip the polymimetic liquid alloys — they’re so 2003 — and turn to the laboratory of Ray Baughman, who has created a next-generation muscle from carbon nanotubes.

Baughman and his colleagues have produced a formulation that’s stronger than steel, as light as air and more flexible than rubber — a truly 21st century muscle. It could be used to make artificial limbs, "smart" skins, shape-changing structures,… Continue
